Local Arts & Crafts

The shoreline and countryside of Dumfries and Galloway have been an inspiration to artists over the years. At Tarff Town & Country, we are pleased to feature the work of a number of today's painters, potters, woodworkers and other talented craftspeople. Members of the Crafts Guild, they create unique and beautiful gifts for our customers to choose.

We stock an attractive selection of plant pots, hand-painted with floral and farmyard motifs, and beautiful hand-turned wooden bowls.

The Belted Galloway, south west Scotland's favourite mascot, is well represented on our crafts shelves. The famous Beltie appears on mugs, toys, coasters, teatowels, umbrellas, and even Pro-Edge golf balls.

Original paintings, photographs and prints

A wide selection of original paintings, photographs and prints are on display. We feature a number of framed original oil paintings by Dalbeattie artist Jim McFarlane, which include striking Solway scenes. Floral and landscape photographs by Margaret Elliott of Newbridge, Dumfries, are mounted ready to frame. Others are available ready-framed.

Check out our range of handmade cards, including those by artist Carol Barrett. Photo cards of the Galloway landscape by Roy Hooker are a popular choice, alongside Rockfish country living cards from nearby Cumbria.

Jewellery selections

Our sparkling displays of hand-crafted jewellery include a range of Designed by Frances sterling silver earrings, bracelets and necklaces. Auldgirth-based Frances Shaw enhances her unique jewellery pieces with colourful semi-precious gemstones, beads and freshwater pearls.
